Tour Waqrapukara
Waqrapukara is a remarkable archaeological site located in the Apurimac region of Peru, approximately 3,500 meters above sea level. Its name, which translates as "village of horns" in Quechua, refers to the distinctive rock formations that surround it. This ancient complex is famous for its impressive stone structures, including temples, plazas, and ceremonial platforms, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Andean civilizations. Waqrapukara is believed to have been an important religious and administrative center during the pre-Inca and Inca periods, as evidenced by its architecture and urban layout. Its design includes elements that suggest its use for ceremonies and rituals, adding spiritual value to the site.
Itinerary
The tour begins with hotel pickup from 4:30 to 5:00 a.m. We will travel to Cusipata for a buffet breakfast and continue the trip. We will travel along the route to Santa Lucía for approximately 2 hours. We will then get ready to make the last preparations before beginning our hike to Waqrapukara. Once everyone is ready, we will begin the hike; the hike is uphill and lasts 1 hour. The guide will explain the importance of this archaeological complex. Then, we will return to the transport that will take us back to Cusipata for lunch. Finally, after a delicious lunch, we will board our transport that will take us back to Cusco. Arriving in Cusco at 6:00 p.m.
